Since 2015, Intelligent Media has expanded its activities in the sector of on-board media in ferries operated by leading Greek ferry lines operators. The first project was the deployment of an advertising digital signage network for the Blue Star and Superfast (Attica Group) ferries. The particular advertising proposal was rather successful and many large advertsisers trusted this new medium. In the years that followed, more on-board advertising options, such as ambient media, were made available.
The highly successful cooperation with the Attica Group Ferries, resulted in additional cooperations with other leading Greek ferry lines operators and up to this day, Intelligent Media has the following partnerships:

Advertising digital signage network
The on-board advertising digital signage network offers interested advertisers the opportunity to communicate their products and services to 8.5 million passengers, served by our partner ferry lines. The average time that passengers spend on-board is 5 hours, ensuring high effectiveness and reach for the medium.
Content display on the installed monitors is performed with the use of an advanced digital signage platform, which allows for immediate content delivery and control, while at the same time provides equipment health status. The displayed content includes third-party ads, content provided by the ferry lines, infotainment content, as well as live data such as destination weather forecast.
The total number of installed monitors in 31 vessels is 156 with diagonals from 32" to 43". The monitors are installed in a portrait format. All monitors cover high foot traffic and high-volume sitting areas on the ferries (bars, restaurants, lounges, etc), with the goal of reaching all passengers as many times as possible. Intelligent Media, besides advertising sales, is responsible for content delivery and management, as well as, equipment technical support.
In more detail, the installed monitors per ferry line are as follows:
- Blue Star & Superfast Ferries – 12 ferries / 69 monitors
- Hellenic Seaways – 10 ferries / 38 monitors
- Minoan Lines – 2 ferries / 16 monitors
- Golden Star Ferries – 5 ferries / 23 monitors
- Aegean Speed Lines – 1 ferry / 6 monitors
- Goutos Lines - 1 ferry / 4 moitors
Besides the digital signage network advertising option, interested advertisers can take advantage of a variety of on-board ambient media. Ambient media provide the advertiser with the ability to communicate their message through the use of a variety of options such as escalators, elevator doors, parking spaces, WC, as well as, indoor and outdor vertical surfaces. In addition, lightboxes that use backlit film are available on selected ferries.
Interested advertisers are able to use the available ambient media on all or on selected ferries. Most of the available ambient media are offered on a summer season basis. By choosing to communicate your message via the available ambient media, you can accomplish high visibility and passenger reach.
Take advantage of the potential presented by the 9 million passengers and the captive nature of the audience and communicate your message in an efficient and cost-effective way.
